San Fran Bans Plastic Bottles

San Francisco has been a leader in combatting climate change. It has banned the sale of plastic single-serving bottles of 21oz or below of water. If violates, the fine is up to $1,000. Currently 14 national parks and the town of Concord, Massachusetts have the ban.

Americans use 50 billion plastic water bottles a year, according to an anti-plastic bottle campaign Ban the Bottle, and just 23% of those area recycled. In addition to climate change, plastic bottles contain detrimental health chemicals including Bisphenol A, BPA. San Francisco has also banned plastic bags and styrofoams, thereby planning to eliminate all landfill waste by 2020.
